The Nash Family obtained their first Hereford cattle of Gudgell and Simpson breeding in 1914. In the early 1930’s, Walter Nash and his son Franklin began a linebred herd using two bulls purchased from W.N. Blayney (Dominant Mischief) and Fred C. DeBerard (Advance Domino 84). The Nash Family developed their herd in the Rocky Mountains near Canon City, Colorado.
From the beginning, the cows were expected to thrive in a harsh environment and any and all problem cattle were culled. The result was genetically sound, low maintenance cattle that hold-up well in rugged country. In the 1990’s, Mike and Jane (Nash) Deewall took over the cow herd developed by Jane’s father, Franklin Nash and moved them to Coldwater, Kansas.
Today, Franklin, Christina, Anna, and Ole Nash carry on a small herd of the linebred Advanced Domino and President Mischief genetics developed by Franklin’s great-grandfather, Walter and grandfather, Franklin. We also have a few commercial cows of the same breeding. All of our cattle trace back to the original Nash herd by way of Deewall Family Herefords in Coldwater, Kansas.
